Mobile Broadband helps you stay connected when you're on the move. You don't have to worry about finding a Wi-Fi network, you just need mobile signal and network coverage. It's perfect when you're travelling, working or don't have access to Home Broadband.

How does Mobile Broadband work?

Mobile Broadband uses a data SIM, similar to those used in mobile phones. Get online using one of our Mobile Broadband deals.

Tablets usually have a slot where you can insert a data SIM or you can use a Mobile Wi-Fi or MiFi router. MiFi uses a data SIM to share a Mobile Broadband connection. It's ideal if you want to connect multiple devices when you're on the move. It's just like your very own, pocket-sized internet dongle.

Can Mobile Broadband be used as Wi-Fi?

Yes. When you're in coverage and connected to our network, a Mobile Wi-Fi router will create a portable hotspot that can be used to connect multiple devices.

But if you need Home Broadband, then visit our Home Broadband page where you can choose a 4G or 5G Broadband plan. They're perfect for setting up home Wi-Fi as you don't need a landline, so you don't have to pay line rental. And there’s no installation either – just plug and play.

What do I need to get Mobile Broadband and how long will it take to arrive?

All you need is a data SIM and either MiFi or a tablet. If you’re buying a new tablet from Three, the SIM comes included. Choose either a Pay Monthly or Pay As You Go data plan on one of our Mobile Broadband deals.

Your order should arrive the next working day. If you’ve ordered a free SIM, that can take up to 3 days to arrive.

Is Unlimited Mobile Broadband available on Pay As You Go?

For Unlimited data, you’ll need to pick a Pay Monthly plan. We offer Pay Monthly plans on a fixed term, or a rolling monthly basis, so you can choose to commit for the long or short term.

We also offer a free Pay As You Go data SIM that you can top up whenever you need to using the Three app.

How secure is Mobile Broadband?

With Mobile Broadband, you can set up a password to make sure nobody else can use your connection.

Can you use Mobile Broadband abroad?

Yes. Before you go, you should make sure that you have international roaming set up on your account. To get set up, you need to log into My3. You’ll need your Three number to hand, you can find it on your bill.

What are the advantages of Mobile Broadband?

Yes. MiFi, Mobile Wi-Fi, and portable Wi-Fi are all different names for Mobile Broadband. Whatever you call it, Mobile Broadband keeps you connected while you’re on the go.

Can you use portable Wi-Fi on a plane?

If you’re on a Pay Monthly plan, you can use your Mobile Broadband or portable Wi-Fi on a plane in Europe. There is a charge for using data while connected to an airline network, for full details, head to our airline roaming page.

Data Roaming isn’t available for Pay As You Go customers on AeroMobile or On Air airline networks at the moment.
